Where the Money Shows Up in Revenue Analytics

·7 min read·GoScript Team /Research

Find the payout columns

Start with the revenue panel filtered to a fixed date range. Look for estimated revenue, not finalized payouts. Then split by videos, by traffic source, and by country. The intersection of those three tells you more than any single top-ten list.

Pay attention to monetized views for each row. A row can have views but few monetized views, which pulls RPM down. If you only look at total views, you will misread why revenue is low.

Read RPM in context

Check RPM against watch time for longer videos. A video watched to the end can run more ads and lift RPM without changing the topic. On the other hand, a high drop-off point can cap ad load no matter how good the intro is. Use these clues to fix existing videos before making new ones.

Do not export one giant table and scan once. Export three focused tables for the same window: top revenue videos, top revenue sources, and bottom five RPM videos with enough monetized views. Compare them side by side for one clear answer.

Track a small set

Pick five videos to track weekly. For each, log RPM, monetized views, estimated revenue, and top traffic source every Friday. After four weeks, you will see which ones move on their own and which only move with a source shift. This takes minutes and builds a useful history.

Keep your view of analytics small on purpose. If you check twenty reports a week, you will react to noise. A single consistent table beats constant browsing.

Key takeaways

  • Use estimated revenue and monetized views, not total views.
  • Cross-filter by video, source, and country.
  • Link RPM to watch time and drop-off.
  • Track five videos weekly in one table.
  • Prefer depth in few rows over breadth in many.

The answer to a revenue question is usually in one row, not in the whole dashboard.

Set up your table now

Create a simple table with the columns above for five videos. Fill it for the last 14 days to start. Then fill it every Friday for the next four weeks. At the end, pick one fix based on the clearest row in that history.
